PHOTO SCAN IT - PHOTO SCAN TUTORIAL
Organize your tools on the mat as you would like to see them in the finished Shadow Foam. Be mindful of the actual usable space in your drawer. Many toolboxes have internal features such internal rails for dividers that must be considered in the final measurements. Similarly, if your drawers do not have full extensions, some space at the back of the drawer may be less accessible.
Be sure to allow about a half inch between pockets and the outside edge of the Shadow Foam. Small tools can be a bit closer together than large or long tools.
Place the four gold Photo Scan It targets on each corner of the tool layout. They are important for scale and dimension and do not need to be precisely the same as the drawer size. The exact length and width of your custom Shadow Foam will be confirmed during the ordering process.
Once your tool layout is complete, begin taking photos from every angle, including low on every side. Start with a distance of three feet or more to capture the full tool layout and the gold targets. Move closer as needed to capture details of the smallest tools.
Each tool layout needs a minimum of 100 photos. That sounds like a lot, but the process is much faster than you might think! The photo scan usually takes less time than arranging the tools on the mat.
When the photos are complete from every angle, follow the ordering instructions in your Photo Scan It kit.
Our designers will optimize your design by perfectly aligning tools, adding finger grabs, and setting the exact length and width for the Shadow Foam insert.
You will receive a screen shot to check the layout before it goes into production.
